Welcome To Seattle Municipal Court Hours Of Operation 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday Through Friday News release: SEATTLE LAUNCHES YOUTH TRAFFIC COURT Teen drivers who admit they committed their traffic offense will have the opportunity to have their punishment set by their peers instead of a judge through a new Youth Traffic Court alliance among Seattle Municipal Court, Seattle University School of Law, and Garfield High School. Beware ‘phishy’ email titled “Seattle Traffic Ticket” An e-mail scam disguised as a ticket notice is making the rounds. The City does not send email notifications of a traffic violations. Selected Court Forms Available On-line The Court has made available selected Court forms to print out and present at your court hearing. New Veterans Court The Seattle Channel has produced a video about the new Seattle Veterans Treatment Court, including meeting two men involved in the program and interviews with SVTC team members. Click here to view the 27 minute video. On September 20, Seattle Municipal Court launched the State's fifth veteran's court program. The intent of a Veterans Court is to balance the needs of veterans for treatment as a result of substance abuse and/or mental health disorders with the need to safely protect the surrounding community. The goal is to provide non-violent offenders with effective treatment and, at the same time, hold people accountable for their actions. Post-traumatic stress disorder can be an underlying factor in crimes allegedly committed and subsequent involvement with the court. New Theft Awareness Class On July 11, Seattle Municipal Court began offering a theft awareness class for defendants who are charged with theft of merchandise in the amount of $500 or less and who appear in Community Court. The class is eight hours and is designed to provide defendants an opportunity to learn about the impacts of theft on the broader community. Defendants must have an active case in Seattle Municipal Court and be court ordered to attend the class. For information about the program, click here to read the news release.
