Seattle City Light was created by the citizens of Seattle in 1902 to provide affordable, reliable, and environmentally responsible electric power to the City of Seattle and neighboring suburbs. Owned by the community it serves, City Light is a nationally recognized leader in energy efficiency, renewable resource development, and environmental stewardship. Seattle City Light provides electric power to more than 460,000 residential, business, and industrial customers. Its service area of 131.3 square miles includes the city of Seattle, areas north of Seattle including the city of Shoreline and parts of Lake Forest Park, and areas south of Seattle including parts of the cities of Burien, Tukwila, SeaTac, Renton, Normandy Park, and unincorporated King County.
