Transcription:
Whereas the Rev. M.A. Matthews of this city has been quoted in one of the daily papers as making certain statements reflecting upon the integrity of this Council; and,
Whereas it is to be assumed that a man of the position and calling of said Rev. Matthews would not make any charges without a good reason and sufficient foundation therefor:
Now therefore be it resolved that the Chair appoint a committee of three who shall invite said Rev. M.A. Matthews to appear before them and specify wherein the Council or the members thereof have manifested "symptoms of graftitis."
