Fund Performance

Fund performance is expected to provide more than half of the total amount required for retirement benefits with contributions from employees and the City representing the remaining amount.  SCERS has two fund performance goals.  Firstly, to achieve a net return that matches or exceeds the actuarial rate of return as adopted by the Board of Administration (currently 7.5%) over a timeframe of 30 years.  Secondly, to achieve a net return that matches or exceeds the policy index over a timeframe of 5 to 7 years.  The policy index is described in the Investment Policy.
