University District
The U District is a diverse and vibrant community, fueled by the state’s largest university and Seattle’s largest employer, the University of Washington. A highly visited neighborhood, beyond those that live and work within its boundaries, the U District saw over 36 million visits in 2025. With many small businesses representing a diverse range of cultures, the U District is home to and welcomes many communities.
We look forward to engaging with you all on the U District’s Regional Center Plan. Please join our mailing list if you’re interested in being part of this planning process.
Engagement Opportunities
As part of the planning process, we are engaging with people who live, work, or spend significant time in the U District. There will be multiple opportunities to provide input or meet with staff in the coming months. Help shape what’s next!
U District Survey
From now until October 7, share your input on our initial policy ideas, plan themes, and even some potential transportation projects. This round of feedback will directly inform the first complete and public draft of the plan, to be released in 2027.
Engagement Events
- Saturday, September 12: U Heights Summer Park Pop Up, 10:30 AM - 1:30 PM, UHeights Plaza, 5031 University Way Northeast.
- Saturday, October 3: U District Chow Down & Street Party, 11 AM, University Way Northeast. Organized by U District Partnership.
Past Engagement
In spring of 2026, we hosted a public workshop at UHeights and distributed an initial survey to provide inspiration for early policy ideas to be featured in drafts of the Regional Center Plan. Read our U District Phase 1 Summary of our findings from these and other early engagement efforts.
