Lake City Community Center

Review Status

On September 4, 2025 we reviewed the Concept phase (30% design) for the Lake City Community Center. At this meeting, the Commission voted 9-0 to approve the current design phase.

Project Description

The Lake City Community Center is a two-story, approximately 29,670 square foot community facility that will be integrated into the base of an affordable housing development. The community center includes a gymnasium, multipurpose room with commercial kitchen, fitness areas, childcare facilities, teen and craft spaces, and supporting amenities. The project is co-located with 100+ units of affordable housing developed by a separate team.

The community center is designed to serve as the long-envisioned civic hub for Lake City, providing flexible spaces for intergenerational programming, community meals, and cultural activities. The project emphasizes accessibility, cultural competence, and integration with both the adjacent park and the broader Lake City civic core.
