Bitter Lake Reservoir Covering Project

On March 21, 2024 The Commission received a presentation on the design development phase of the reservoir portion of the site and initial concepts for the portion of the site to be developed by Seattle Parks and Recreation. The Commission voted 7 to 0 in support of the project.
Project Description
The Bitter Lake Covering Improvement Project is a capital improvement project focused on improving the Bitter Lake Reservoir and enhancing community open space. The project is a partnership between SPU (Seattle Public Utilities) and SPR (Seattle Parks and Recreation), with separate scopes for each entity that will be reviewed independently by the commission.
SPU's scope of work involves the design, engineering, and construction of a new 21 MG (million-gallon) concrete reservoir and covering. This portion of the project is dedicated to enhancing the functionality and infrastructure of the reservoir.
