Seattle will host the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) Annual Meeting Jan. 13 – 16, 2008. The West Precinct Command staff has been working with the event planners to provide assistance in security planning for the numerous downtown facilities that will be used for the various training sessions and social events. It is the first meeting in the Pacific Northwest for this international association of meetings industry professionals with a predicted number of 3,200 convention attendees. The economic impact for the meeting in January 2008 is $4.5 million. The West Precinct commanders are also responsible for planning the security for the upcoming Mardi Gras; events at the Seattle Center, political candidates visits, demonstrations, etc.
