Captain Krista Bair

Bio + -

I have been with the Seattle Police Department for 29 years.  I am the captain of the Southwest Precinct, since June 2024.

I worked for approximately 15 years in Patrol, including with the Community Police Team, 5 years in the Office of Professional Accountability (aka Internal Affairs), and 5 years as a Detective Sergeant in the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Unit.

I served in patrol as a Lieutenant for just over a year overseeing first watch of the East Precinct.  I then moved to the North Precinct as an Administrative Lieutenant reviewing use of force.  From there, I joined the Force Investigations Team.

I promoted to Captain at the end of 2023.  I was afforded the opportunity to return to the unit that oversaw Sexual Assault & Child Abuse, Domestic Violence, and General Investigations, collectively referred to as Coordinated Criminal Investigations.

I have instructed with the Training Unit over the years on various topics. I have a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University.

I look forward to the continued partnerships with our communities. I wish to further my involvement within my department’s leadership staff to shape the future of our profession.
