This 0.53 acre property was acquired by Parks and Recreation in September 2005. In July 2002, the Seattle City Council unanimously approved funds from the first cycle of the Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund to acquire this property for a new park. The acquisition was strongly supported by the neighborhood, where there are many families with children and no park within walking distance. In 2002 King County Council approved Conservation Futures Tax (CFT) matching funds toward this project, and in 2005 Washington State Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation (IAC) funds were also approved. In 2005, $200,000 was awarded through the second cycle of the Pro Parks Levy Opportunity Fund toward park development of the site.
