The Department of Parks and Recreation is announcing its new Park Volunteer Inspection program.

The Parks Inspection Volunteer program invites community members to assist Seattle Parks and Recreation in surveying our parks in a systematic and transparent way. Volunteers will be working with Parks resources staff and will be trained to carry out inspections of our city's parks.

Our goal is to regularly evaluate our parks in order to identify problems and maintain these city resources in a safe and inviting manner. Regular inspections will enable Parks staff to repair assets when needed and attend to any deficiencies exposed by the inspections.

The program will begin November 2017, and we are recruiting volunteers now. Potential volunteers will be required to attend a training and commit to 1-2 inspections per month. We will work with volunteers to schedule inspections and will do our best to place them in their home neighborhoods.

We are excited about engaging Seattle's community in the world of park maintenance, and are hopeful that you will apply. If you are interested in the program or have questions, please contact the Park Inspection Program lead, Craig Chatburn.
