About

Current project requiring closure: Jefferson Community Center Stabilization

Jefferson Community Center is in the heart of Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood just minutes from downtown in the recently expanded and renovated Jefferson Park. This destination park boasts a large play area, spraypark, zip lines, tennis courts, skate park, cricket pitch, sportsfields, lawn bowling green, the oldest golf course in Seattle and a great ¾-mile walking path. Nearby is a fire station, Mercer Middle School and Seattle Parks and Recreation horticulture buildings.

Originally built in the 1930s, the community center has had several renovations and additions built in subsequent decades. Jefferson is a three-story building with two preschool rooms upstairs and a music room. The main floor has Hasselberg Hall, a pottery room, meeting room, social area, and a gym. A teen room and maintenance area are downstairs.

In addition to a wide variety of programs for kids, teens, seniors and others, Jefferson is the only center to have a Mock Trial team. The team has been successful in competition by reaching the state competition the last three years.

Seattle Preschool Program

The City of Seattle's award-winning preschool program is available at this community center to all three- and four-year-olds living in Seattle, with free or affordable tuition and high-quality learning environments that promote kindergarten readiness.Inquire at this location or visit the Seattle Preschool Program web page.
