PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The community, led by Sea Mar, has collaborated with sculptor Jesus
Moroles and the firm of Jones and Jones to redevelop an underused
portion of open space into a spirited park. Musical stone sculptures,
seating walls, a trellis, bus shelter, and plantings integrate art
into the landscape of South Park.
In September 2005, the Seattle City Council unanimously approved
$100,000 for the Cesar Chavez Park project.
Funding has also been received through a Seattle Department of
Neighborhoods Matching Fund Grant, a Washington State Community,
Trade, and Economic Development grant, and numerous private foundations
and donatons.
