Get Involved in the Work of the Public Safety Civil Service Commission
Civil Service relies on the work of commissioners and the awareness of City employees and the public to be effective. We invite you to get involved and support the work of the Public Safety Civil Service Commission (PSCSC) however you can.
City Employees
Current City employees who are covered by civil service may participate in the upcoming 2026 election to appoint a commissioner for a three-year term (2027 - 2029):
- File for candidacy to serve as commissioner (filing week is October 5 - 9, 2026)
- Vote in the election (election week is November 2 - 6, 2026)

Members of the Public
Anyone can support the civil service through building awareness of our work and serving as a commissioner:
- Subscribe to our news emails or follow the Seattle Public Safety Civil Service Commission on LinkedIn
- Attend or view a regular monthly or special PSCSC meeting (see our Meeting Agendas and Minutes, for links to upcoming meetings, or recordings of recent meetings)
- Serve as a commissioner for a three-year term, subject to confirmation by the Mayor or City Council
