Pickleball

Welcome to Seattle's public pickleball court resource page! Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong, and is played on a shorter court than tennis (like badminton), with a modified tennis net. Whether it's doubles or singles, pickleball can be enjoyed by all ages and skill levels. Seattle Parks and Recreation has many outdoor tennis courts striped for pickleball play, and our community centers offer indoor opportunities to drop in and play for free.

Quiet Courts

SPR is testing new Pickleball technology to mitigate noise associated with play. People in and around the sport will admit it — pickleball noise can be disruptive for communities more sensitive to sound. SPR, USA Pickleball and a team of researchers and students at The University of Washington are on a mission to resolve this! We’re identifying courts across the city to implement noise-reducing fencing and in some areas restricting courts for the use of “Quiet-Category” paddles only.  

Belltown Pickleball Courts now dedicated as Quiet Court for pilot study. 

SPR has dedicated the Belltown Pickleball Courts – at the intersection of 5th Ave and Taylor Ave – as a “Quiet Court” now to pilot the use of “quiet-category” paddles. Three neighboring businesses, City Foods (2252 5th Ave), TeKu Tavern + Café (552 Denny Way) and Zeek’s Pizza (419 Denny Way) will have loaner paddles available for rent for same-day use. These paddles were developed by a local business in conjunction with researchers and students from The University of Washington studying materials that will dampen the sound of the paddle by using surface coatings and sub-surface materials yet maintain the nature and feel of the game like always.  

Indoor Courts

Free drop-in at community centers: find drop-in times and locations. Free! No registration required, but players must check-in at the front desk.

Outdoor Courts

Your best bet for playing at a specific time is to reserve a court! In the Seattle Parks and Recreation system, courts are reserved via the Amy Yee Tennis Center, or directly online using our registration portal. Please go to the Amy Yee Court Reservations and Costs page for information about how to reserve.

When courts are not booked, they are open for drop-in use (first come, first served) for a 90-minute maximum. If someone shows up with proof of reservation, drop-ins must yield the court. 

Reservations must be made at least 24 hours and up to two weeks in advance. No same-day bookings. Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance. 

Rainout policy: If it rains and you didn't use your reservation, Amy Yee Tennis Center must be notified by phone at (206) 684-4764 within 24 hours. A credit will be applied to your account for future use for Seattle Parks and Recreation activities. 

Nets

Nets are supplied at many courts, but not all. See the charts below, and please bring your own net at locations where courts outnumber Parks-supplied nets.
