O2 - Outdoor Opportunities Program for Teens

This free program is open to Seattle high school youth between the ages of 14-19! 

Outdoor Opportunities is an outdoor expedition program designed to expose multi-ethnic, high school teens (ages: 14-19) to environmental education, urban conservation, and stewardship. We strive to create an environment for community leadership and empowerment via workshops, service projects and outdoor excursions, all of which are free for our students. Annie Huang

Annie has been in O2 for many seasons! A student from Garfield High School she has been active at both of the O2 locations through the years. 

She is a curious, kind and helpful lady. All summing to the wonderful person that is Annie! At each workshop that she attends she is a joy and on our weekend trips she can most often be found exploring the local flora and fauna of the area. She is everything that O2 appreciates about our students! She puts her powers of curiosity to use at each event inspiring others to think outside the box. Her kindness is a quality that she extends to all of our O2 students and staff. That and so much more can be said about the lovely Annie Huang! 

We look forward to another year with her!

Princess Asencio

Princess is one of our Garfield High School students and has been an O2 student for only about six months!  Princess may be relatively new to the program, but it seems like she's been in the program forever. She always brings joy to any event she attends and it's hard to have a bad day when you are around her. Princess is always willing to pick up a shovel or get her hands dirty if it's asked of her. She also uses her enthusiasm to get more  students to help out! We look forward to having more of her positivity and silliness in our program!

Ryan Tasi

This Rainier Beach HS student, Ryan Tasi, has been with O2 for multiple seasons and has been a bankroll of positivity and determination of will. Ryan's family is from Western Samoa and he has shared his love for his culture with his O2 family. What he likes most about the O2 program is "The outta state/Seattle trips and the people you can meet ."

Ryan has exemplified great leadership and encouraged others to be themselves and bring their unique spirits to O2 just as he does! From workshops and weekend trips to service projects he has embodied all that O2 treasures about our students. It's been an absolute pleasure having Ryan as part of O2!    

Elaine Miranda Salcedo

We are pleased to announce our beloved Elaine Miranda Salcedo as the spring 2019 O2 Student of the Season!  Even though Elaine has participated in countless Camp Long and Southwest events, we will proudly take credit for her!! Elaine has been an active participant in our program for years, recruited many of her friends, and added many wonderful ideas that have  become O2 events throughout the years.  We know that Elaine will be graduating this school year, and wish her the very best in college and beyond!  We will miss you!!  

Jaimie Spott

The Student of the Season for Camp Long is Jaimie Spott!

Jaimie has been a participant in O2 for almost a year now and she has been a ray of sunshine in our program! Jaimie has come to almost every single event and there's no slowing her down. Jaimie has a heart of gold and always thinks about everybody in the program and the community she serves. There is never a time when Jaimie isn't on the hunt for snacks before every event she attends. We look forward to feeding Jaimie's hunger for events and her hunger for food in the future!

The Student of the Season for Southwest is Anton Burckhard!

Joining us just last spring, Anton has been a wonderful addition to our O2 program. Pictured to the left is one of the student's novel ideas, the Donut Bagel. In addition to being the co-inventor of the Donut Bagel he is also extremely considerate, helping out whenever he can with setup or takedown of equipment. Anton is a wonderful addition to our O2 community and we look forward to him continuing to be an active participant!

Fall 2018 Central- Student of the Season is Kaliah Taualii!

This Chief Sealth student has had her very first year with O2, and has been a blissful ball of humorous energy and joyful banter. Kaliah has attended multiple summer trips, including horseback riding and the week-long San Juan Islands trip. She has exemplified great leadership and encouraged others to dive in their spirit of curiosity just as she did. It's been a blast welcoming Kaliah as part of our O2 family!

We are pleased to announce the 'South End - Student of the Season" - the one-and-only - Hinda Abraahim!

Hinda has been a part of the program for roughly a year now. We have enjoyed Hinda's fun and spirited personality! Hinda always has a light hearted approach to life, is always willing to try new things, and consistently seems to win in most of our "O2 competitions". We can't wait to have Hinda on upcoming events!



 




Dan Bermudez

Dan has been a fantastic member of the  O2 community this past year! Not only is he always willing to lend a hand when there's a task to be done, but he brings his wonderfully quirky (and at times edgy) sense of humor to every situation.  He is a scholar through and through, and is constantly bringing thoughtful perspectives to our discussions. We're so happy that you're part of our O2 family, Dan! Thanks for being so hilarious, conscientious, and curious every day!

Isaiah Robinson

Isaiah has been a wonderful asset to the O2 Program since joining two years ago. Isaiah is one of the first to show up when help is needed, and is always kind to everyone. Although shy and quiet at times, Isaiah has the confidence to step up as a leader and share his knowledge with others when it is needed. We are very happy to have Isaiah in our program, and look forward to feeding his sweet tooth for years to come!

Isaiah has been a great contributor to our O2 program for the past year.  He has participated in numerous events including after-school workshops, service projects, and overnight trips.  He is very quick to lend a helping hand and is always thoughtful of maintaining the peace for our group.  Isaiah is very family orientated and applies this value to his O2 family in many ways.  One of his greatest gifts is keeping his community health and happy with his cooking!  We have shared many Isaiah-prepared breakfasts on O2 trips and can't wait for the next.  Thank you, Isaiah, for being a positive contributor to our program!

Juvanni is a fantastic, reliable, and energetic leader in O2 Central! He came to nearly all of our events this past season, and he brought to each his jovial sense of humor, his thoughtful discussion, and his limitless creativity. He intentionally reaches out to others, and has become a friend to everyone. Oh, and he crushed it on the slopes in his second year of our weekly snowboarding lessons!
