Morgan Junction Park Addition

2020 - Project Suspended

Seattle Parks and Recreation and the City of Seattle are experiencing significant losses in revenue as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the summer of 2020, Seattle Parks and Recreation had to suspend capital project work and we were forced to suspend this project along with many others. The decision to suspend these projects is based on reviewing the projects through the lens of equity, health and safety, and whether or not they support an essential function. We are thankful to the community for their partnership and for their understanding. We will work to secure funding in future budget cycles.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the public process.  Your input was used to develop three concept designs. View the three concept options here. Options 2 (38%) and 3 (50%) received the stronger community preferences.

A second online survey was also posted July 8 - September 3, 2019, to gather more input, especially from people who were unable to attend the festival. The survey results are here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/results/SM-D2XMKGCY7/.

The design team worked to refine the expressed community preferences into a preliminary preferred schematic design for the park expansion.

Also, soil and groundwater sampling and analysis occurred in late 2019. This helped us see what remediation will need to be done as part of park expansion. We also worked with City departments to determine what alley improvements will need to be made as part of park expansion.

We greatly appreciate our collaboration with the Morgan Junction Community Association on outreach and engagement for this project.
