Looking back on 2021, I want to share some ways your District 2 team delivered for the CID and South Seattle. I remain committed to serving you so we can improve community safety, close the opportunity gaps for our young people, and stop the displacement of our Black and brown neighbors. It’s been a privilege to work alongside you. We look forward to continuing the work in 2022!

Selected Accomplishments in 2021

Sponsored legislation establishing Juneteenth as an official City holiday

$200k for engaging community in improvements of Lake Washington Blvd

$2 million for sidewalk improvements in South Seattle

$500k to support Restorative Justice programs at Seattle high schools

Closed the "end-of-lease loophole" to provide Just Cause protections for renters

$800k for CID neighborhood planning

$750k for youth pre-employment and job readiness support

$360k to expand Tribal mental and behavioral health services

$400k for completion of the Cheasty Greenspace trail

$375k for Black Girls and Black Queer & Transgender Youth programs

Protected renters who can’t pay rent during the COVID emergency by creating a new legal defense

$23.5 million in community economic recovery, prioritizing neighborhood revitalization, micro-businesses, and cultural spaces

$1 million for Home Zones - traffic calming projects to make streets in South Seattle safer for people of all ages and abilities who walk, bike, and roll

Decarbonized our local energy usage with new building code updates, including restrictions on the use of fossil fuels for space and water heating in multi-family and commercial buildings
