Police Chief Confirmation Process

Councilmember M. Lorena González (Pos. 9, Citywide), chair of the Gender Equity, Safe Communities, New Americans & Education Committee, will host the confirmation process for the appointment of Carmen Best as the next Seattle Police Department’s Chief of Police.

Mayor Jenny Durkan announced the nomination of Carmen Best on July 17, 2018. The legislation containing the nominee’s appointment packet is expected to be delivered to the City Clerk in time to be placed on the Introduction and Referral Calendar for the City Council meeting on Monday, July 23, 2018.

Councilmember González has established the following public hearing schedule for the City Council to consider the Mayor’s nominee for Chief of Police:
