Swimming Beaches

Welcome to the 2016 Beach Season!

New this year! - Lifeguards will be on duty at East Green Lake beach and Madrona beach starting on May 28th.  All nine beaches will be staffed starting June 25th.

Seattle Parks and Recreation offers safe, lifeguarded beaches at nine sites around the city, and we strongly recommend swimming only where lifeguards are present. Seattle Parks also offers FREE mid day swimming lessons at all nine beaches and free evening lessons at select locations.

Take a dip in Lake Washington! The Warren G. Magnuson Park swimming beach offers a tiny pebble shoreline-your gateway to refreshing waters that average 67 degrees during summer months (June to Labor Day). Play in the water with your children or do a few laps out to the swimming platform. Shallow (waist high to adults) waters stretch from the beach out about four feet. A drop-off beyond that becomes a depth of 10 to 12 feet. Done with water play for the day? Then toss your towel down and warm yourself in the sun on grassy flats west of the beach. A children's wading pool, picnic shelters and tables, are all available nearby.

To get to the beach, enter the park at N.E. 65th Street from Sand Point Way N.E.. Drive straight ahead (east) to the lake, then left (north) on Lake Shore Dr. NE. Park at the foot of Kite Hill, near "The Fin Art Project."
