About the Beach

The beach is an ideal location for gatherings. Amenities include a nearby picnic area with grills, a children's play area, basketball courts, a swimming raft and lifeguards on duty in the summer. Restrooms and phones are available nearby.

Parking is available at the beach. As a stop on the Burke-Gilman Trail, the park is also easily accessible by bicycle.

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) needs to repair the Thornton Creek culvert under NE 93rd St. Thorton Creek passes through this culvert under the only road access to Matthews Beach Park and 51st Ave. NE on its way to the Lake Washington shoreline. The repair is expected to begin in August and will take approximately one to two months to complete. For additional information please see the project page, or contact:
