About OPA Interim Director Andrew Myerberg

Andrew Myerberg, a civilian lawyer, was appointed by the Mayor on July 12, 2017 to serve as the Interim OPA Director while the police accountability legislation passed by Seattle City Council and signed by the Mayor is pending approval by U.S. District Court Judge Robart. Interim Director Myerberg will continue the work of OPA by overseeing the intake, classification, and investigation of complaints, certifying investigative findings, and making recommendations on disposition and discipline to the Chief of Police. The Interim OPA Director also reports to the Mayor and the City Council on OPA activity and issues concerning the professional standards of the Department.

Andrew comes to OPA from the Seattle City Attorney's Office, where he was the lead attorney for the City of Seattle in the Consent Decree over the Seattle Police Department and provided legal advice to City departments on criminal justice and law enforcement issues. Andrew also previously served as legal counsel to the Community Police Commission..
