The City Council is considering a proposal negotiated by the Mayor, the King County Executive and a private investor named Chris Hansen to construct a multi-purpose sports and entertainment arena in SODO. The proposal stipulates the City finance the arena by issuing bonds of up to $120 million in addition to bonds issued by the County for up to $80 million.
The City Council's Government Performance and Finance Committee started its review in May and will continue through the summer according to this tentative schedule.
The proposed legislation to be considered by City Council consists of two major components:
- A memorandum of understanding between the City, County and Mr. Hansen
- An interlocal agreement between the City and County

Council Press Conference, 9/11/2012
On Tuesday, September 11, Councilmembers Clark, Burgess and O'Brien announced a negotiated agreement that protects the public's investment in this project and preserves family-wage jobs. The amended legislation was voted out of the Government Performance and Finance Committee on September 13.
