The City Council Select Committee on Minimum Wage and Income Inequality was established to review minimum wage-related legislation to be delivered from Mayor Murray expected in April or May 2014 relating to a Seattle-specific minimum wage. Washington State's minimum wage is currently $9.32/hour. Councilmember Sally J. Clark will chair the Committee with all nine Councilmembers serving as members.

The Mayor's current Income Inequality Advisory Committee, made of a diverse cross-section of 25 community, labor, and business leaders, is developing a set of recommendations to deliver to Mayor Murray for his consideration. Based on the Committee's feedback, the Mayor is expected to create a proposal to send to the City Council for review.
