Public Works
Contracting
The following is a summary of the City of Seattle's
public works contracting process managed by the Department of Executive Administration, through
the Purchasing and Contracting Services Division.
Public works projects are advertised in the Seattle Daily
Journal of Commerce, online on the City's
Construction
Bid Advertisements Web site and
eBid.
Small construction projects, estimated to cost less than $200,000,
may be solicited using the
Small Construction
Projects Roster (SCPR).
Obtaining Bid Documents
Instructions for obtaining the project manual and drawings
are specified in the advertisement. Bid documents for most
projects are distributed
through eBid, which
allows users to download the
project manual, drawings, contract addenda, and the planholder's list.
Planholders List
For those projects listed on eBid, the planholder's list is available
on the eBid Web site. For all other contracting opportunities, subcontractors may call the
telephone number listed in the advertisement to obtain the planholder's list.
Bid Submission and Contract Requirements
The project manual describes the bidding and contracting
requirements necessary for each project. These requirements will be evaluated
for responsiveness and responsibility. To be considered, bids must be submitted
at the place, date and time specified in the advertisement. Most bids are due at
or before
2:00 p.m.
on Wednesdays.
