Welcome

The Seattle Department of Human Resources endeavors to promote an equitable and engaging work environment so employees can do their best work and make a difference for the people and communities we serve. The Department focuses on providing high quality services to all City employees and departments and works collaboratively with department leaders to align policies, practices, and programs citywide to fulfill the vision of workforce equity and excellence.

As the central human resource group at the City, SDHR provide an array of programs and services, including benefits, workers' compensation, the City's deferred compensation plan, labor relations, citywide Safety, compensation and classification, and workforce analytics.

In addition to core Citywide HR programs and services, SDHR manages the City Investigations Unit, and collaborates with department leaders and City HR professionals on cross-departmental teams that develop best practices for recruitment, leave administration, and anti-harassment policies.

Our most important work focuses on creating a work environment that is welcoming, equitable and inclusive for all grounded in the City's Workplace Values of Racial Equity and Social Justice, Inclusion, Learning, Accountability, and Stewardship.
