9. What is Seattle doing to communicate with its customer-owners regarding restructuring?
As a City-owned electric utility, Seattle City Light exists for the benefit of, and under the direction of, our citizen-owners and our community. At this time of potentially momentous change in the electricity industry, it is important that the utility and the City’s elected officials seek direction from the community. While Seattle City Light can provide information and even recommendations on a future direction for our utility, the ultimate direction must come from those the utility serves, its citizen-owners.

Over the next six months, Seattle City Light intends to reach out to its customers and the community in several ways to share information about electric industry restructuring and to listen to their perspectives on restructuring and its implications for Seattle City Light.

To get more information about restructuring or to tell us what you think about it, check out the following:

  • Seattle City Light's Home Page: The utility would like to share information about industry restructuring with you. This web site will continue to offer updated information on such topics as Seattle’s view about restructuring, how it might affect you, the status of restructuring legislation, and how you can reach your utility leaders and local, state and federal legislators to share your ideas, questions, and opinions about restructuring.
