SDOT Director Confirmation Process

Update: 

Sam Zimbabwe was confirmed as Director of the Seattle Department of Transportation on Feb. 25, 2019. Watch his swearing in ceremony. 

Councilmember Mike O'Brien (District 6), chair of the Sustainability and Transportation Committee, will oversee the confirmation process for the appointment of Sam Zimbabwe as Seattle Department of Transportation's next Director.

Mayor Jenny Durkan announced the nomination of Zimbabwe on December 18, 2018. Zimbabwe previously served as the Chief Project Delivery Officer for Washington, D.C.'s District Department of Transportation (DDOT), a role that unites planning, traffic engineering, transit, and capital projects.

Councilmember O'Brien has established the following public hearing schedule for the City Council to consider the Mayor’s nominee for Seattle Department of Transportation Director:
