Thank you Seattle for making this acquisition possible.

Seattle Parks has acquired three properties in the East Duwamish Greenbelt through the Levy program.

  • A .76-acre property was donated in December 2005.
  • Seattle Parks purchased a .34-acre property in December 2005.
  • Seattle Parks purchased a .28-acre property in January 2006.

The Pro Parks Levy's $10 million Green Spaces category funds acquisitions to preserve Seattles green spaces. The Oversight Committee has included the East Duwamish Greenbelt among 13 of the Citys adopted Green Spaces.

Land acquisitions to connect and extend existing green space in the East Duwamish Greenbelt.

The East Duwamish Greenbelt is the largest greenspace in Southeast Seattle and includes the wooded hills above the I-5 freeway. In the 1990s Seattle Parks and Recreation preserved more than 70 acres in the greenbelt.

On November 12, 2002, the Pro Parks Levy Oversight Committee included the East Duwamish Greenbelt among the green spaces to be further considered for acquisition through the Pro Parks Levy Green Spaces category.
