Project Status

Thank you Seattle! This project is complete.
The West Seattle Soccer Club inaugurated the new field with a day full of youth soccer games on November 5, 2011.

Parks awarded the contract for the site work to Terra Dynamics. The installation of the synthetic turf, purchased through King County Directors Association, began September 22nd. When the turf installation was completed, Terra Dynamics finished all site restoration and install a barrier fence along S.W. Myrtle. In April 2011, the Seattle City Council allocated funding from the Parks and Green Space Levy to two field projects, Walt Hundley and Washington Park Playfield.

Parks held a public meeting to discuss the improvements to the playfield on April 27, 2011. Please see the overview and notes below.

Project Description

The completed field will have inlaid lines supporting, one adult soccer pitch, one U-11 soccer pitch, three U-10 soccer pitches, football hash marks and Ultimate Frisbee reference marks.

The renovation to the field includes:

• Replacement of the existing all weather Cushion-Turf field surface with synthetic turf.
• ADA access from the east side of the field to the internal park pathways to the north.
