Sacajawea Playground Renovation
Project Information

Location: 9501 20th Ave NE, 98115

Project Status

Thank you Seattle and Sacajawea PTSA! This project is complete.
In fall 2015, the construction of new ADA access, large play area surround and wetlands was completed. Sacajawea PTSA has installed new play equipment with wetland plantings next in line. Although the site was known to be wet, construction excavation found a wonderful cold clear water spring providing an abundance of water to the project during a record hot and dry summer.

Parks re-bid this project after all public bids came in over the project budget amount and awarded the contract to WS Contractors LLC.

On the advice of the geotechnical engineers and landscape architects summer construction was essential because part of the project is construction near existing wetlands.

The Seattle Parks and Recreation project provided the foundation for the play area and included new curbing, sidewalk, wetland ponds, logs and boulders. The PTSA installed play equipment and did additional landscaping.
