Sacajawea Playground Renovation
Project Information

Location: 9501 20th Ave NE, 98115

Project Status

Fall 2014
Construction was anticipated to begin the summer of 2014, unfortunately it was delayed due to the arrival of new portable classrooms in the upper playground that necessitated changes to the design and subsequent delays to the review and permitting process.

With the construction window pushed out by several months, the decision was made to delay the project to avoid potential wet-weather construction issues over the winter months, and the likelihood of associated cost over-runs. These issues are particularly of concern to the project given the proximity of the playground to the existing wetlands and steep slope. On the advice of the geotechnical engineers and landscape design consultants, the bidding will proceed within the next two months and construction to be delayed until spring of 2015.
