Jackson Park Golf Course ProjectsLocation: 1100 NE 135th St, Seattle WA 98125 Project StatusOctober 2012 The Parks SEPA review and comment period is now complete, and Parks has applied for the Master Use Permit from the Department of Planning and Development to accommodate the new range pole heights. Design for the new driving range building is at 65% complete, Design for the golf hole renovations is at 95% complete, and the advertisement for bidding will open in April. The perimeter trail design is at 65% complete, and will bid in May. Approximately 75 people participated in the second public meeting held on February 9, 2012. At this meeting Parks staff focused on the new perimeter trail and the golf course modifications. Please see below for meeting notes. Over 100 people attended the first meeting held in November, 2011. The team provided general overviews of each body of work took general questions and then split up to take specific questions. Please see below for notes from the first meeting. Driving RangeConsultant selection is complete, R. W. Thorpe and Associates with sub consultants Waterleaf Architects, Icon Golf and O.B. Sports, for design services, engineering, site planning and permitting of the Driving Range. Opening anticipated in 2013. Golf Holes 10 and 11Parks selected golf course architect Todd Schoeder/ICON Golf Studio to design new golf holes on 10 and 11, cart paths and other proposed modifications to the course. Perimeter TrailThe Friends of Jackson Park Trail and Larson Casteel have completed their Neighborhood Matching Fund (NMF) project and the final report of the community’s priorities for the next steps in further design and construction of the trail. Seattle Parks and Recreation's Senior Landscape Architect, R. Frank Robinson is leading the perimeter trail design development.
Project DescriptionThe Seattle Parks and Recreation Department will renovate the Golf Cart Paths, integrate a new double deck driving range which maximizes the number of stalls and shall be integrated into the site located on the existing 10th hole, and implement a perimeter pedestrian trail into the Jackson Park Golf Course. These projects are consistent with Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Golf Master Plan, dated May 2009. The Friends of Jackson Park Trail applied for and were awarded a $15,000 Small and Simple matching fund from the Department of Neighborhoods in 2009. The community worked with the Parks Department and Larson Casteel Landscape Architects to develop a more refined design and plan for the implementation of a loop trail at Jackson Park. ( RETURN
