Project Status

January 2013
Construction on the Highland Park Spraypark will begin Jan 22, 2013. Parks anticipates completion by mid-May 2013.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation, the spraypark will be completed for summer season 2013 and will be a great addition to Highland Park and the neighborhood.

Parks presented the final design for this new spraypark to the community in March 2012.

Parks selected SiteWorkshop as the design consultant for this project. Together they presented spray features and design ideas at the first public meeting held on May 25, 2011. Approximately 35 West Seattle residents came out to discuss spray park features and how those features could best fit Highland Park.

The Levy originally allocated $200,000 for this project. Through the community initiated Opportunity Fund process, the Levy Oversight Committee became aware that this project needed additional funding. The project received additional funding from the Levy inflation. This will allow for full water re-circulating systems and provide a better play experience and water conservation.

Project Description

Identified in the Parks and Green Spaces Levy this renovation project provides for the conversion of the existing wading pool into a spraypark.

The design team will work with the community through a series of public meetings to develop a recommended design of possible spray features for the wading pool conversion. Consideration will be given to ADA accessibility, as well as long-term maintenance, operation costs and sustainable design.
