ABOUT THE PARK

E.C. Hughes playground includes ballfields, a children's play area, and a view of Mount Rainier to the south.

HISTORY

E.C. Hughes Playground was purchased in 1945. The park name was taken from the nearby school, which was named for Elwood Clarke Hughes, an esteemed past president of the School Board.

• Take the W SEATTLE BR/COLUMBIAN WAY exit- exit number 163A.
• Keep RIGHT at the fork in the ramp.
• Merge onto W SEATTLE BRIDGE.
• Turn LEFT onto 35TH AVE SW.
• Turn LEFT onto SW HOLDEN ST. 0.37 miles

• Take the WA-599 N exit- exit number 156- towards TUKWILA/W. MARGINAL WAY.
• Merge onto WA-599 N.
• WA-599 N becomes WA-99 N.
• Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto W MARGINAL WAY S.
• W MARGINAL WAY S becomes HIGHLAND PARK WAY SW.
• Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto SW HOLDEN ST.
• Turn RIGHT onto 16TH AVE SW.
• Turn LEFT onto SW AUSTIN ST.
• Stay straight to go onto DUMAR WAY SW.
• DUMAR WAY SW becomes SW ORCHARD ST.
• Turn LEFT onto DELRIDGE WAY SW.
• Turn RIGHT onto SW HOLDEN ST.
