Current Status

Thank you, Seattle! This project is complete.
The final parts of this project were completed in the spring of 2015.

This project is nearly complete, and is open to the public as of December 2014. Remaining work includes; reworking historic planting benches in the Cactus House (the eastern most wing of the conservatory), building wide electrical service upgrades, and new heating and venting controls. Seattle Parks will also renovate the adjacent comfort station to meet American with Disabilities Act requirements and to improve the long term maintainability of this historic building. We expect all of this work to be complete by late April 2015. The Cactus House will be closed to the public until mid-February 2015.

Parks opened the Conservatory in December 2014 for the holiday season.

The project ensures long term preservation of these buildings. Visit Friends of the Conservatory for latest news and updates.

Budget: This program is funded through the Cumulative Reserve Fund and community funding from Friends of the Conservatory and Seattle Parks Foundation.
Construction: mid-May 2014 - December 2014
Completion: Early December 2014

Project Description

This project repairs and replaces the glazing of the East wing of the Conservatory, replaces the East wing production greenhouse, and performs other related improvements to the Conservatory and production facilities. The focus is to ensure long term preservation of these buildings.
