Thank you Seattle this project is complete!
The community celebrated the opening of this field on Saturday, September 19, 2009 with a bountiful potluck dinner and ice-cream social. Over 100 community members and field users attended.

The notice-to-proceed was issued on June 1, 2009 to Precision Earthworks. Construction has progressed per schedule.

Project Description

Budget: $2,200,000 for planning, public involvement process, design, bidding and construction.

Construction begins: Summer 2009
Project complete: Late Fall 2009

This project replaces the existing sand field with synthetic turf at Miller Playfield, and performs other related work. Planning and design is funded in 2008 and the Department will seek construction funding in 2009. This project was requested by the community through the Community Capital Suggestion Process and is also part of a six-year plan to renovate ballfield lighting and fields throughout the parks system. This renovation will meet Park recreational needs and neighborhood plans and input, City Codes, and Department standards.
