Washington Park Playfield Synthetic Turf Replacement

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is happy to announce the Washington Park Playfield is open and the synthetic turf replacement project is complete. The project opened to the public on Friday, October 7. An area to the east of the entrance and behind home plate will remain fenced off to allow for the re-establishment of the natural lawn area with hydroseed.

Seattle Parks and Recreation awarded the construction contract for this project to Coast to Coast Turf, Inc. and the project was designed by DA Hogan.

This project replaced aging synthetic turf at Washington Park Playfield. This included the removal of the old ‘worn out’ synthetic turf and the project addressed accessibility issues at the field. 2022 synthetic turf systems with a sand and cork infill was installed for recreational play. Field markings include soccer, ultimate Frisbee and baseball/softball.
