Play Area

About

Roanoke Park is a grassy, pleasant space located on north Capitol Hill where 10th Avenue E ends at E Roanoke.  Located in a residential area, it has fruit trees that burst into color in the spring; it's an ideal place to enjoy a picnic while your kids frolic in the play area.

Current Project

Irrigation Replacement
Roanoke Park has the oldest irrigation system in our inventory and is home to prized elm trees and plantings maintained by dedicated neighborhood stewards. To assist in the care of this park, Seattle Parks and Recreation is replacing the irrigation system with a new fully automatic system. This new system will help our park stewards spend more time with the plantings and reduce the water usage. The work is being performed in phases to keep as much of the area open as possible. We will install a new control system in the spring and restore the site. We anticipate opening a restored Roanoke Park in spring of 2019 once the grass has established.

Construction Timeline
Fall 2018 - Spring 2019: The site will be restored in the spring and the grass will need warmer temperatures to establish and grow.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while we make these improvements. For more information, please contact Garrett Farrell, Seattle Parks and Recreation at garrett.farrell@seattle.gov or 206-233-7921.
