Montlake Playfield Synthetic Turf Replacement Project

Early 2023 Update

On site construction will begin on January 6 and go through early April 2023. There will be times during that period, during business hours, where the streets may be busy with truck deliveries. Please view this delivery schedule document for expected delivery details. During construction, the field will be closed. Seattle Parks and Recreation and the contractor will work to minimize impact to the roadways and neighborhood. View this PDF to see some early construction photos from this project.

This project will replace the aging synthetic turf at Montlake Playfield. The project will include
the removal of the old ‘worn out’ synthetic turf and address any structural repairs to curbing
and sub-subsurface. 2020 synthetic turf system will be installed for recreational play.

Seattle Parks and Recreation continues to lead the way to developing and installing alternate
synthetic turf field design sections/materials and deliver a safe, durable, and playable athletic
facility and experience.

Schedule

Construction: Early 2023 – Late Spring 2023

Anticipated Impact

During construction, field will be closed. Seattle Parks and Recreation and the contractor hired
for the project will work to minimize impact to the roadways and neighborhood.
