Gas Works Park has a play area with a large play barn, and big hill popular for flying kites. Special park features include a sundial, and a beautiful view of Seattle. Access to Lake Union is restricted at Gas Works Park, as the lake sediment contains hazardous substances. Entering the water or launching boats from the park is prohibited (SMC 18.12.070) There is no swimming, no fishing and no wading in the park. The Burke-Gilman Trail runs past Gas Works parking lot and follows the Burlington-Northern Railroad 12.5 miles north to Log Boom Park in Kenmore.

Major Events - 2025

Gas Works Park will host a handful of large events during the 2025 summer that will have impacts to the surrounding neighborhood. We have provided the list of the event dates and times below so that folks in the area are aware and can plan accordingly. Additional neighborhood notification from the event organizers will still occur on the timelines required by the Citywide Special Event Office.

Friday, July 4th: July 4th Celebration (approx. 40K attendees)

Event timeframe: 11 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.


Saturday, July 26th: Concert (approx. 10K attendees)

Event timeframe: 12 p.m. – 9 p.m.


Friday, August 8th: Concert (approx. 4,500 attendees)

Event timeframe: 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.


Saturday, August 9th: Bike Ride (approx. 7K attendees)

Event timeframe: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.


Saturday, August 23rd: Concert (approx. 10K attendees)

Event timeframe: 2 p.m. – 9 p.m.


Saturday, September 27th: Run and Concert (approx. 10K attendees)

Event timeframe: 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
