Downtown (Center City) Parks
Downtown Parks Activation
Following a pilot project conducted in 2015-16, we entered into a five-year contract with the Downtown Seattle Association to continue to activate Westlake Park and Occidental Square through food trucks, plantings and colorful furniture, games and active play, classes and events, and much more. In 2016, similar agreements were negotiated with Cascade Playground Activation Committee, Jim Ellis Freeway Park Association, InterIm Community Development Association and Friends of Belltown Parks to activate Cascade Playground, Donnie Chin International Children's Park, Freeway Park, Hing Hay Park, Kobe Terrace Park, and Bell Street Park.
"Such a beautiful place in the city, I love the buildings and trees. Seems like a hideaway place from all the craziness you get from walking in Seattle.a nice place to come when with friends and visiting, or to watch street performers. Right by the international district too and close to the waterfront!!" - Google Review, Occidental Square
"Been coming here all my life, used to play in the walkin waterfall, but now they got PingPong, shuffleboard, Giant Chess and an outdoor kids play area. Well done Seattle, Great free outdoor spot in Seattle." - Google Review, Westlake Park
"Seattle has a public organization that hosts free events at the park during the summer. I recently went to the park to watch a quintet and have a from BBQ. Great spot, especially if there is music to cover up some of the noise from the freeway." - Google Review, Freeway Park
