Yesler Community Center Learning CenterAddress: 917 E Yesler Way, 98122 > directions HEAD STARTThis program is designed for neighborhood House's Head Start program. Kids age 3 - 5 uses the lab once a week. With help of volunteers and staff the kids learn to use a computer and play different educational web based games. This program runs from September - May. KIDS PLACEThis is a program for kids ages 6 - 11. Kids place is a fun, supervised after school program designed to meet the moral, social, and creative needs of children of working parents. This is a 2 hours a week program. Kids will learn how to use computers, keyboarding, computer related projects, and they play different educational web based programs. This program runs Sep - through June. TUTORINGThis program is designed for Catholic community Services Youth tutoring. The program meets three days a week 2 hours session (4 - 7 pm). This is one on one tutoring for elementary, middle, and high school students. The lab is utilized for homework and different computer and Internet related projects TEENS MULTI MEDIAMulti Media for Teens: This is a joint project of Parks & Recreation CTC's train teens with multi media programs. The program will run for two weeks and participants will learn-HTML, Dream Weaver, and Visual Basic. At the end of the program participants will be able to build a web page using those different programming languages. FUN ZONEThis structured after school program for kids ages 6-12. Kids will work on computer related projects; homework and play web based educational programs. Scanning pictures and manipulation of pictures using different software GETTING STARTED WITH COMPUTERSThis is an eight-week, twice a week class! Learn practical applications and computer basics for personal or business use. Topics include introduction to Win 98, 2000, and the Internet; basic skills using software for word processing, spreadsheets, and Typing. No previous contact with computers required. This program will run through July SENIORS TRAINING SENIORS IN COMPUTER BASICSThe seniors training seniors in computer basics is a four 2 - hour class (one session) where seniors, in small class settings, will learn about computers, how to access the Internet and E-mail. Classes are though by seniors and who are trained by Mayor's office for seniors ESL (ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGEThis course target immigrants living in Yesler Terrace. The class is an eleven-week class and it will meet twice a week. This course will cover English as a second language skills involving grammar, writing, vocabulary and sentence. NOTE: All participants must register for these programs at the computer lab. Public access during classes depends on the instructor.
