Seattle Parks acquired a .31-acre property on December 31, 2007 to expand the size of .33-acre Hing Hay Park to .64 acres. The property is currently leased by the United States Postal Service's International District Station. The Post Office will stay at its current location under the terms of its lease while it conducts its own public process to relocate within the neighborhood. The Post Office's real estate representative, John Logan, is currently seeking a nearby site for its retail operation. He can be reached at (817) 329-2907. Planning for the park will begin when development funding is secured and when the Post Office transition schedule is established. The proposed Parks and Green Spaces Levy, currently scheduled for a public vote on the November 2008 ballot, sets aside $800,000 for park development.
