PROJECT DESCRIPTION
|
In November 2000, the Leschi Community Council began meeting to discuss
how to rebuild Flo Ware Park into a safe neighborhood playground and community
gathering place, commemorating the life-long works of community activist
Flo Ware. The Committee applied for funding from the Opportunity Fund
on behalf of Flo Ware Park improvements. On July 29, 2002 the Seattle
City Council unanimously approved 12 park acquisition projects and 7 development
projects to be funded through the $6 million first funding cycle. The
Opportunity Fund granted $250,000 to improve Flo Ware Park.
