PROJECT STATUSThank you Seattle this project is complete.Since the opening in November 2007 this park has been a gathering spot for community activities which include: theatre, solstice celebrations and watching the sunset. The 24,640 square-foot property is an urban oasis with a wonderful panoramic view. The park is the realization of six years of a combined effort on the part of Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Friends of Fremont Peak Park. Funding sources included the Pro Parks Levey Opportunity Fund, King County Conservation Futurues Fund, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods Matching Fund, among many other generous donations of both time and money. The park was designed by landscape architect Marieke Lacasse from GGLO and the art elements were created by Laura Haddad. Fremont Peak Park was recognized as one of the forty-five best public art projects in the United States at the 2008 Americans for the Arts annual convention. Projects were chosen from more than 200 entries across the country. For a description of the art installation visit: http://www.gglo.com/our-work/project.aspx?projectId=173&catId=3.
