Bridging Communities and Culture through the Experience of Art

Mission Statement:
Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center builds community by providing opportunities for artists and audiences to connect through the medium of art as a catalyst for community dialogue and social change.

The Center creates year round programs that enhance artistic appreciation, performance, and proficiency. LHPAC provides creative and collaborative opportunity that creates cultural competency across the aisles of our theater and across the neighborhoods of greater Seattle by honoring our tradition of featuring art by and about African Americans, youth and communities of color.

About the Performing Arts Center

Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center operates as a cultural performing arts center under the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation. The goal of the center is to provide quality cultural entertainment and educational components that meet the needs of the community.

Every season, Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center has new classes, events and programs. Langston Hughes offers both performances and instruction, and the programming reflects the diversity of the surrounding neighborhoods, the Central District and the International District.
