About
Each quarter of the year, we offer classes and special events for you and your family. Lesson programs include tot lessons (6 months to 4 years of age), kinder lessons, youth lessons, youth competitive stroke lessons, adult and senior adult lessons, one-to-one lessons, and springboard diving. Exercise classes include aqua jogging, hydro-fit exercise, water exercise. We also offer family swim, public swim, and lap swim times. Our 25 yard, 6 lane pool is kept at 85 degrees. In addition, complimentary exercise machines are available on deck for patrons who are swimming at Southwest Pool.
Deep Water Swim Test
To ensure the safety of children and youth using our pools, swimmers younger than 18 years of age are required by Seattle Parks and Recreation to pass a swim test to enter the deep end. The test consists of swimming two widths of the pool. While crawl stroke is preferred, alternate methods of swimming can be acceptable if the child is swimming with the body in a prone position and is making good forward progress. For additional safety, the test may be more stringent if the pool is really crowded. Final determination is based on the judgment of the lifeguard on duty.
Alternately, the child can take the swim test using a personal flotation device (life jacket). Children who pass this modified test are allowed in the deep using a life jacket.
Hygiene Services
We have shower and restroom facilities available for Seattle Public School students and residents in need. Please visit this page for times and locations.
Single Gender Swimming
The single gender/all-gender swim program was developed using Seattle Parks and Recreation's Single Gender and All-Gender Inclusive Swim Programming Protocol. More information is available here.
