Youth Employment

SYEP logo graphicThe Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) is launching a year-round program designed to help you (must be 16-24 years old) grow as a community leader and prepare for future work and career opportunities. Through SYEP, you will build your job-readiness skills, explore new careers, and complete a summer internship in the Seattle area. The goal is to increase your ability to pursue careers that pay well and have meaning, as defined by you!

Our year-round model runs from October 2019 to August 2020.

Module Requirements Compensation
Fall, Winter, and Spring
(October-May)
Weekly participation, including team activities, skills workshops, one-on-one coaching and support services, assessments, and attending career discovery days. Each completed module earns you a stipend
(maximum stipend per module is $300)
Summer
(June-August)
Practice what you learned through a six-week internship opportunity. Work up to 20 hours each week for six weeks (up to 150 hours total). Each internship is located in Seattle and pays a minimum wage
(currently $16 per hour)

By participating in the year-round program, you will learn job-readiness skills and meet local leaders and entrepreneurs in different career fields such as healthcare, education, skilled trades, technology, and the creative field.  You will then have an opportunity to apply the skills and participate in a six-week internship opportunity in the summer.
