What is the Americans with Disabilities Act?
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) is a comprehensive civil rights law that Congress enacted to end discrimination against people with disabilities.
It guarantees equal opportunities for people with disabilities in:
- Public accommodations
- State and local government services
Title II of the ADA requires the City of Seattle to provide people with disabilities an equal opportunity to access City services, programs and activities.

Title II grievance process
If you feel that the City of Seattle has failed to accommodate your disability or provide you with equal access to a City activity, program or service, you have a few options:
- Work with the Holly Delcambre, City of Seattle ADA Coordinator, to resolve the issue directly with the City department
