Code Corrections

Some of Seattle's different codes and supporting material.
"Clean-up" code amendments to correct errors, incorrect cross-references, and clarify the existing code.

What Is Happening Now?

SDCI has completed draft legislation, a Director’s Report explaining the legislation, and environmental (SEPA) review for its yearly Code Correction legislation proposal (commonly referred to as the Omnibus). Please visit our project documents page to read the legislation and related documents.

The proposal includes amendments to the Land Use Code (Title 23) and related land use regulations in Chapters 22.206, 25.05, 25.08, 25.09, and 25.11 to clarify and improve various regulations. The proposed amendments generally include “clean-up” amendments that correct inadvertent clerical errors and incorrect cross-references, and clarify existing code language. Residents, elected officials, and City staff helped identify the amendments.

Project Benefits

The ordinance:

  • Clarifies regulations to be consistent with the City Council’s original intent
  • Provides consistency and predictability for neighbors and permit applicants
  • Corrects inadvertent clerical errors and incorrect cross-references, and clarify existing Code language

The End Result

Following a public notice and comment period in December 2017, City Council is expected to begin review of the correction legislation in spring of 2018.
